This just in—Behr has named Breezeway its color of the year for 2022. A cool, soothing shade of silvery green, the tone conjures images of placid and wonderful places in nature. The shade resembles sea glass that might wash up on the beach, and it’s a novel way to bring the outside in that’s neither too unconventional nor too obvious.

Naturally, a color that fits within the broader family of greens inspires a sense of renewal and restoration. But in this case, Behr believes that notion not only applies to our world, but how we move through it. “A new year brings the opportunity to embrace a sense of renewal and pursue untapped passions,” Erika Woelfel, Behr’s vice president of color and creative services, said in a statement. “Whether it’s lacing up our hiking boots or breaking out the gardening tools, Breezeway inspires us to fully embrace the hobbies or adventures, both near and far, that excite us.”

Part of what elevates Breezeway over the other 19 colors in Behr’s 2022 Color Trends palette is its versatility across contexts and moods. From beachside vibes to more mainstream and modern applications, Breezeway is bound to brighten up a space while serving too as a viable neutral.

In addition to highlighting the aesthetics of Breezeway, Behr is also intent on improving the functionality of its paint products. The recent introduction of the four-in-one Behr Dynasty paint line finds the company offering a stain-repelling, scuff-resisting, and fast-drying paint that can meet the needs of design professionals and at-home DIY projects alike. Behr Dynasty, Breezeway, and the rest of the brand’s 2022 Color Trends Palette are currently available at the Home Depot. After more than a year and a half of trials and tribulations, Breezeway’s breath of fresh air is certainly warranted.
