There’s a spirituality to Susan Skornicka’s spaces that comes from designing for the senses, and an ability to connect with nature through architectural gestures and material choices. The California designer creates sanctuaries for her clients that promote peace and harmony.

About

Skornicka Designs and Construction (SDC) is a full-service design firm tucked in the hills of Marin County, California, offering architecture and construction, interior design, and exterior and landscape design.

Guided by the principle that homes are sacred spaces, Susan Skornicka's homes are designed to evoke natural luxury. These spaces envelop clients in comfort and beauty that is rooted in a symbiotic connection to nature. Giving careful consideration to the interplay of architecture, design, and landscape, Skornicka’s work results in one-of-a-kind private residences that are refined, deeply meaningful, and live in harmony with their environment.

Skornicka acts as the single point of contact for her clients, ensuring that collaborations are organized, transparent, and straightforward. She brings intuitive wisdom to every project, guiding an elevated vision to engage all of the senses and infuse a radiant energy throughout the home. Grounded in practical design principles, her homes deliver solidly on functionality, while simultaneously creating spaces that are filled with heart and meaning.

Working with Skornicka is the most seamless way to design and build your home or landscape. SDC handles every detail of the process, including county interaction, permitting, and general contractor and subcontractor management, minimizing interruption to the lives of clients.

Recent projects include a full build, along with interior and landscape design, on Stinson Beach; and a Mediterranean Modern remodel in Kentfield, California. We look forward to our newest projects: a mid-century modern redesign and another full-build home, both adjacent to the magnificent Mt. Tam in Marin County. While based in the Bay Area, Scornicka would consider traveling within California and beyond for an amazing new design opportunity.
